Does your child think they can be an influencer? A listener asked Ryan Seacrest for advice on-air after hearing TikTok influencer Cam Casey’s interview the other day. In case you missed it, Casey made $3 million in just a few weeks utilizing Snapchat’s new Spotlight feature. These stories are what are now inspiring youth to seek careers being an “influencer.”

But what’s the likelihood of your child being successful?

Dr. Jennifer L. Hartstein, PsyD, who specializes in psychotherapy with children, adolescents and their families, shared on-air that kids need foundations.

“You have to express what the benchmarks are you need to see,” Dr. Jen shared, for example doing well in school etc. “We don’t want to thwart someone's dreams, … but in order to do that, what does she have to do? Like where else is she building self-confidence, … skill … and awareness? You as a parent need to build those parameters.”

Listen back to hear more advice from Dr. Jen and check out her book, Princess Recovery: A How-to Guide to Raising Strong, Empowered Girls Who Can Create Their Own Happily Ever Afters.
