SEC Announces Decision On 2021 Nashville Media Days Event

The Southeastern Conference has announced its decision for SEC Media Days in 2021.

The conference no longer plans to have the annual event in Nashville this year, instead opting to return to its usual location, Hoover, Alabama, and instead reschedule its Nashville event for 2023, according to a news release shared on its official website.

The SEC initially announced its plan to hold the 2021 SEC Media Days event in Nashville during the opening session of its 2019 event. Last year's event, which was set to take place in Atlanta, was cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and media sessions were instead held virtually.

The conference didn't mention rescheduling a future event for Atlanta, but specified that this year's Media Days will be held at the Wynfrey Hotel in Hoover, the location for SEC Media Days during 18 of its last 19 occurrences, on July 19-22.

"Nashville's success with the NFL Draft in 2019 was a point of attraction when we originally selected it as site for SEC Football Media Days, but the current environment related to the virus will not allow us to explore some of the unique fan experiences we had hoped to pursue in Nashville for this event," said SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey. "With two years to prepare, we look forward to making SEC Media Days an even bigger event in Nashville in 2023."

The SEC said it plans to announce the site of the 2022 SEC Football Media Days "in the near future."
