When it comes to R&B, Kendra Jae is gearing up to be the industry's next big thing.
The Sacramento-born songstress released her first single “PER$ONA” in 2020 and immediately reached over a million streams. Since officially launching a her music career last year, Kendra has teamed up with famed producer Bizness Boi, (who's worked with Elton John and Rihanna) and Grammy Award winner Camper (who's worked with H.E.R. and Mariah Carey).
Earlier this year, the multi-hyphenated singer and choreographer linked up with Saweetie for a new track entitled, “Seesaw” from the "Tap Out" rapper's Pretty Summer Playlist: Season 1 EP, which has also reached over a million streams. This isn't Kendra and Saweete's first time working together. While in high school, the now 26-year old star launched her career as the youngest dancer on Beyoncé’s historic Formation World Tour before joining Drake on tour, hitting the stage alongside everyone from Gwen Stefani to Dua Lipa, and choreographing music videos for Chloe x Halle and Saweetie. Kendra also revealed that she and the Icy Queen were even roomates at one point. The rising young star said in a statement
“Collaborating with Saweetie on ‘Seesaw’ came as a complete surprise, one that I will never forget. I created something that came from my real life experiences. Something that I was extremely passionate about that I felt needed to be shared with the world, because I knew that there were such relatable emotions that women could connect with. Then, to have my real-life friend, the Icy Queen herself, believe and connect with it on the level that she did meant so much more than the average feature. At one point, Saweetie and I were roommates supporting each other through some of our lowest moments, so to fast-forward and see how much we’ve both grown not only as creatives, but as independent women makes this a full circle moment.”
