Amazon's Lord of the Rings Series Sets An Official Premiere Date

The incredibly anticipated fantasy series that has been at least 4 years in the making has finally set a premiere date. The new "The Lord of the Rings" series will premiere on September 2nd, 2022 on Amazon Prime Video, with new episodes airing each week.

Based off of J.R.R. Tolkiens best selling books, the movie will take place prior to the events of "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit." It will have an entirely new cast of characters, some new and others more familiar. Here is the first new look showcasing what will be the main setting of the series.

“I can’t express enough just how excited we all are to take our global audience on a new and epic journey through Middle-earth! Our talented producers, cast, creative, and production teams have worked tirelessly in New Zealand to bring this untold and awe-inspiring vision to life.” Said Jennifer Salk, head of Amazon Studios.

It looks like Amazon is doing a good job keeping this project behind the curtain, and it will probably still be a while until we get an actual trailer for the show. Either way, I could definitely use another nerdy marathon, and watching all of the unextended versions of the trilogy should probably pass just enough time until then!
