Officer Malek Odeh does tireless work both on patrol and in the community. Last month, Officer Odeh initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle of an armed robbery suspect. The suspect fled, and Officer Odeh calmly followed the vehicle, keeping a safe distance while calling out the location of the vehicle to other officers and the CMPD helicopter. The suspect was caught on foot in a wooded area by the K-9 Unit. Officer Odeh also volunteers to coach a Police Athletics League soccer team in his downtime.
