MoviePass Shuts Down For Good On Saturday

I feel like a really nice relative who always gave me free money and candy just passed away...

MoviePass, a subscription-based movie ticketing service, allowed its users to see an unlimited amount of movies for only $9.95 a month. According to The Ringer, the empire came tumbling down the day that Mission: Impossible - Fallout was released. On that day, thousands of users were unable to access the service and the whole thing truly proved too good to be true.

The company has announced that they will be shutting down the service for good on Saturday (September 21st).

Apparently, the reason why people were shut out of the app the day that MI was released is the reason why the service couldn't last. While the company announced one Twitter that they were "experiencing technical issues" with the app, their bank had actually shut down their line of credit.
