Okay folks, tomorrow is June 11th. You might be saying to yourself, “Uh, yeah. So what?” Well, my friends it IS a big day! It’s National Corn on the Cob Day! Yes sir, by golly, it really is!

Did you know that corn on the cob goes back to around 9,000 B.C.? Also, corn on the cob is thought to have originated in Mexico. People also have some cute names for the vegetable. Some call it corn stick, sweet pole, and corncob.

When you go to pick some corn on the cob this summer, the trick to picking the corn at its sweetest is to pick it during its “milk stage.” This is when the kernels are still soft. So grab yourself some “corn sticks” this summer and throw them on the barbecue! Enjoy!
