Does Music Help Or Hurt Students When They Are Studying?

So you child is studying or doing his/her homework. Unfortunately, they are listening to their favorite music, too! You might wonder whether or not this affects their ability to comprehend the information they are trying to learn. Well, in a nutshell, yes and no.

Timothy Byron from the University of Wollongong in Australia states that it depends on the type of music they listen too. Music can make us happy which is good for studying, but it can also distract us, which is bad. So what is the best type of music for your children to study by? Here are his recommendations:

•Listen to music that makes You happy;

•Make sure it’s not too fast or too loud;

•Listen to music that’s not too wordy.

There you have it! Music can improve a child’s studying habits, provided it follows the above caveats!
