Former World Series Champion, Brett Myers, Loves His New Gig: Country Music

What do you do when you've won a World Series and your baseball career comes to an end? You become a country singer! That’s what Brett Myers did!

Myers won a World Series as a pitcher with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2008. He was released by the Cleveland Indians in 2013. At the time, he didn’t know what to do next.

One day while playing golf with Damien Starkey, a music producer who played with the rock band Puddle of Mudd, Myers talked about some song concepts he had in his head. Starkey like what he heard and the next thing Myers knew, he was beginning his journey into the music business!

Myers band, The Backwoods Rebels, have released three albums and are in the process of recording a fourth. His band mates consist of former members of Puddle of Mudd and Shinedown, so he is in pretty good company. Myers said he will ride this gig as long as it goes. Not bad for a World Series champion, huh?
