The Big Game is over, and no matter who you rooted for, chances are you gobbled up enough pizza, wings, chips, salsa, and beer to last you till next year's championship game! 100 million people were expected to watch yesterday's game and, unfortunately for employers, 17 million of them are expected to call in sick today!
In a survey conducted by The Workforce Institute at Kronos Incorporated, a software company that helps employers manage Human Resources, data suggests that about 17.2 million people will call in sick the Monday after the game because they either ate too much, drank too much, or stayed up too late on Sunday watching the Big Game. The day has become know as "Super Sick Monday."
Furthermore, productivity losses could top $4 billion because of the absences. Fortunately, the survey also found that more bosses have begun to have a sense of humor over the sicknesses. Roughly two-thirds of employers said they think its funny when co-workers call in sick the day after the game! Hmmm...maybe thats because some of them may call in sick too?
