Drew Barrymore was abruptly ghosted after a first date and did not see it coming.

The 50 First Dates actress opened up about the "cryptic" experience during Monday's (March 24) episode of her eponymous talk show.

"I texted him and I was like 'Lovely to see you again the other night.' We went back and forth twice and then he ended with 'Ha.' And I haven’t heard anything. So it just happens. I don’t know why! I don’t know why. I would never do that. It doesn’t cross my mind to behave like that. Like, if you put a fishing pole in it, why aren’t you gonna follow through?"

"Drew Crew" members Valerie Bertinelli and Ross Matthews agreed with Barrymore before the host highlighted the relatability of her circumstance.

"It does happen to all of us! The best of us, good people, who wouldn’t treat other people like that necessarily."

The Never Been Kissed star also read the text message to her friends, who helped her analyze its meaning.

"Today, my friend said, ‘Well, did he answer the ha with one a?’ I’m not kidding. This happened. And I was like, ‘No, it was like five or six a’s.’ And they were like, 'Oh no, that’s great!'"

Barrymore revealed that the surprising text ultimately saved her time because she would never continue to date someone who communicated so poorly, encouraging the audience to steer clear of "people who waste our time."
