Huntersville Residents Worried About Impact of Colonial Pipeline Gas Spill

Back in mid-August, there was a petroleum gas spill that leaked about 63,000 gallons of product. Colonial Pipeline, the owner of the line that caused the leak, says they're focused on ensuring health and safety for the Huntersville community.

Crews off of Huntersville-Concord Road have been working to repair the damage from the spill. Colonial Pipeline says they've installed dozens of monitoring wells and are collecting weekly samples of surface water to monitor the area.

“We want to ensure the community that there has been no detection of petroleum compounds in any residential waterways,” Colonial Pipeline representative Greg Glaze said.
