It's no secret that "coronavirus clusters" - multiple people contracting the virus at the same event or location - have been increasing at alarming rates over the past few weeks in states all over the U.S. Many officials and scientists believed that cases of COVID-19 would increase exponentially following the marches to end police brutality in almost all major U.S. cities, however that actually has not been the case.

Erika Lautenbach, director of the Whatcom County Health Department, explained, “We did have a rally in Bellingham, which is our county seat, and there was also a protest, and we have not been able to connect a single case to that rally or to the protest, and what we’re finding is in large part that’s due to the use of masks."

“Almost everyone at the rally was wearing a mask, and it’s really a testament to how effective masks are in preventing the spread of this disease.”

They're seeing the same results in Minnesota where protests are still ongoing.

Furthermore, Lautenbach found that 29 new cases of COVID-19 were traced back to a party at Washington State with 100-150 people in attendance in early June. In Baton Rouge, Louisiana at least 100 people tested positive after visiting bars in a district near Louisiana state University.

The studies are seeing more and more cases pop up in states like Florida, Arizona, and Texas following the reopening of restaurants and nightlife.
