The Supreme Court ruled in favor of baker Jack Phillips with a 7-2 decision after he refused to make a wedding cake for a same-sex couple in Colorado.
The high court said the ruling was impacted by the Colorado Civil Rights Commission showing a hostility to religion, which violated Phillips' First Amendment rights. However, the case did not decide whether or not a business can refuse service to gay or lesbian people.
The story became widely publicized in 2012 when Phillips refused service to a same-sex couple because of his religious beliefs.
