Steve Smith Sr. Talks Strike Out Domestic Violence Event on Feb. 18

Steve Smith Sr. stopped by the Channel 96-1 studios to chat with Boomer about a very special foundation that is doing great work for the Charlotte community.

The Steve Smith Family Foundation promotes family health & wellness as well as the awareness and prevention of domestic violence. The foundation has been part of community for the last five years and has helped many women and men who were stuck in unhealthy situations.

On Feb. 18, the foundation is hosting a charity bowling game called Strike Out Domestic Violence, where people can sign up for a lane and help raise money to end domestic violence.  There are two time slots to choose from: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Your sign up gets you 2 bowling games, shoes, food and drink specials, a t-shirt and a silent auction.

Sign up your team here.

One of the amazing things the foundation is doing, and what some of the raised money funds, is the Smith Family Wellness Center on Central Avenue that offers counseling, medical care, dental care and over-the-counter medication for those unable to afford it or those without access. In partnership with Project 658, a Christian-based organization and ministry that provides services for at-risk families in Charlotte, the center opened up in December.
